Standards Forum @ Industrial Transformation ASIA-PACIFIC (ITAP) – 15 & 16 October 2025
Held on 15 and 16 October, the Standards Forum at Industrial Transformation ASIA-PACIFIC (ITAP) 2025 demonstrated how technical standards move industry from concept to deployment.
Centred on the theme “From Standards to Solutions: Advancing Smart Manufacturing Together,” the forum was organised by the Singapore Manufacturing Federation – Standards Development Organisation (SMF-SDO), with support from Enterprise Singapore and the Singapore Standards Council.
Leaders across manufacturing and robotics examined how structured data exchange and life-cycle frameworks enable faster, safer adoption of advanced technologies in Singapore’s industrial ecosystem.
Day 1: Robotics and AI in the Built Environment
The forum opened with remarks by Mr Dennis Mark, CEO of SMF, followed by a keynote from Dr Deb Goswami of NVIDIA on the foundations required to build intelligent machines.

Ms Lim Chui Ping of the Centre for Healthcare Assistive and Robotics Technology (CHART) and Mr Dario Ravarro of KONE Singapore explored how robotics can support manpower and enable autonomous vertical mobility in smart buildings.
Discussions spotlighted:
- SS 713:2025 – robot-lift integration
- TR 130:2025 – interoperability between multi-fleet robots
Mr Michael Sayre of Kabam Robotics added industry perspectives on deploying robots within operational environments.
The day concluded with a panel moderated by Mr Lim Joo Siang of HOPE Technik. Ms Samantha Su of IMDA joined speakers to discuss interoperability requirements extending beyond building systems, addressing ecosystem-wide coordination.
Day 2: Smart Manufacturing and Industry 5.0
Day two focused on Smart Manufacturing as a driver of Industry 5.0. The programme began with an address by Prof John Yong, Chair of the Manufacturing Standards Committee.

Standards highlighted included:
- SS IEC 62264-6:2025
- SS IEC 62890:2025
These frameworks provide a common technical foundation across systems, vendors and production stages.
By advancing shared technical languages, the forum strengthened Singapore’s position as a trusted hub for interoperable and scalable industrial systems.
